pain in big toes

(5 discussions)

I have had pain in bilateral toes for months now.
I have started playing tennis, and am now on my 2nd pair of shoes, and I don’t know if its the sport, if its my shoes, or if I could have arthritis in my toes.
I am almost unable to walk after I have played tennis and my toes hurt constantly.
It feels like they are bruised.
They hurt to touch them, and if I try to wiggle them, it kills me.
The pain is intense.
What should I do and what do you think is the diagnosis?
Should I go see a foot specialist or have blood work for arthritis??
Thanks, Carrie

I certainly am not in a position to second guess your surgeon, but it is a bit too early to declare that you would be doomed to a life of pain. By no means is your surgery healed. Pain is a normal consequence of most surgeries and especially foot surgery since you walk on something that was just cut on. Gravity is no help either. Be patient and listen to your doctor.

Hi Cathy, I am wondering how you are feeling now… I had 2 Morton’s Neuromas removed from my left foot on May 7th. That was 6 weeks ago. I didn’t get back into sneakers until 4 weeks had passed and I still cannot take a full step on the foot and follow it through to the ball of the foot. So I definitely think that your pain at 19 days was far too early to tell. I couldn’t even place my foot on the ground at 19 days – let alone bear weight on it. I can keep you posted on my progress. I hope you will post a follow-up to let us know how you are doing now. I, like you have one in the other foot also but I will hold off until next year to think about that one!Kimberley
