Pain in nail of big toe

(3 discussions)

I have a ingrown toe nail on my big toe.
I get a pedicure every two weeks and the girl who does it started every week cutting the nail away from where it was grown in the skin.
This took weeks to get it done but the nail is totally cut away on the side that meets the skin.
Now I have pain in the nail bed from the cuticle to the end of the nail.
The skin around my nail does not hurt at all, just the nail itself.
Do you what could be causing this. Thanks

There are several possibilities I recommend you see a podiatrist, not a pedicurist.

Would you please delete the post that has my work email in it? (the first one I posted) Thanks so much.

My big toenails and outside of the middle toe on each foot are extremely sensitive, not like an ingrown toenail, more like in the bed of the nail and to the inside of each toe. I have not injured my feet, and I wear varying types of shoes, none too tight that I can tell. Hope you can give me some ideas. My toenails do not appear discolored and none of my other toes are sore. If I press on the nail of either toe, I almost cry out in pain.
