Pain in the Butt…strained gluteus or piliformis?
I am 42 and play basketball 3 times a week pretty strenuously for about 1 1/2 hours. Recently at the end of playing, the top part of my butt was tired/sore(nothing popped or pulled that was noticeable. When I tried playing 2 days later, I can jump vertically off of 2 feet fine, but the act of doing a layup,(bringing my right knee up and jumping off left foot while running) caused pain in my lower right gluteus area. I stayed off basketball for two weeks and have recently tried just running. There is still pain that makes it hard to take a full stride. Any ideas for rest, stretching or other. Thanks

i would try going to a PT if you can or finding a sports massage therapist….they can work and stretch those muschels…..they are hard to do on your own
