Pain on outside of left foot

For the past 2 1/2 months, I have had a pain on the lateral side of my left foot. One morning I just woke up with it and have had it ever since. When I awake in the mornings I can barely stand on the foot. Also when I rest for long periods and then try to stand up the pain comes back. The pain is situated on the middle lateral side and bottom part of my left foot between my little toe and my heel. What could possible be the problem?

I suggest you get an X ray of your foot. You might have a fracture or even a dislocated cuboid bone. These are common causes of pain in the area you describe. Go see a podiatrist.
