Pain on tailbone area–using 'hip abductor' equipment

I was in the gym, using the ‘hip abductor’ equipment. If the name is wrong, it is the machine you sit on, with padded arms against your outer knees, then you separate your knees/legs for buttocks/thigh workout. A week ago I got a minimal, but sharp pain to the area at the end of my tailbone. I can feel this coming-on when my legs open up on the equipment, not so much when my legs/knees are close together. I thought I was being carful when it happened again today, a little more so though. Feels like a pinched nerve, and probably inside a half inch from the surface of my skin, and right about where the crack of my ‘buttocks’ starts.
Does anyone know what this could be and how to remedy it? I know…”if it hurts to lift your arm, then don’t lift your arm”. But I’m afraid this may effect other areas of my workout.

I have the exact same issue. Used that hip abductor machine for the first time and now I have pain like a sprain around my tailbone area. Especially when I sit down. It’s going on a month now and I still have that pain.
