Pain on top of right foot

(2 discussions)

Hello.
I was running one morning, and I started to feel some cramping in my right foot.
Got a mile, cramping got worse.
Then another mile, and I had to turn around because the pain in the foot was really bad.
Nothing to indicate what happened.
I went to a foot doctor for xray, and no fractures.
Some swelling.
3 weeks later, and swelling and pain still there.
Really huts if I have to run for whatever reason (after my 4 year old as he breaks to the street to greet the postman!).
Help!
I have never had this cramping or pain on top of my foot before.
The pain I can trace along the tendon on second toe.

hey, this might not be the problem but, a friend of mine had the same sought of thing that you are describing. He walked and ran a lot and all of a sudden one day his foot started to hurt. It turned out he had a stress fracture of one of the bones at the top of his foot. It doesn’t show up in x-rays, he had to have a cat scan to pick up on it. It wasn’t bruised or swollen or any thing, just hurt a lot.

Hi I have a similar problem with my right foot. 3 months ago I did a lot of walking (3 theme parks in 4 days). About 2-3 days after the last park The top of my foot hurt so bad I could barely walk. I wrapped it and after about a week it only hurt when I flexed it, like when going up or down stairs. That pain has never went away. Now 3 months later the foot and ankle swell whenever I’m sitting or standing. When I sleep at night it returns to normal, but after about 1/2 hour of being up it swells again.
