Pain top of foot

I am a runner (30-35mpw) and over the last month or so have noticed an increase in pain on the top of my left foot. It is around the mid part of the top of my foot. It is NOT painful to press on the area, pain can be while I am laying around or walking/running. I have been treating w/ ice and Advil. I alson have had what I think is shin splints in the lower part of the same leg. I have within the last week started rotating 2 prs. of running shoes. I am just curious what ideas you might have.
Thank you.

Without examining you, I can not be sure. One consideration is as you mentioned, shin splints. This can cover a number of things though. Another is a stress fracture. Sometimes on an MRI we will get a diagnosis of bone marrow edema and the x-ray’s are negative. If you are concerned, I recommend you see a podiatrist.
