Painful bump on bottom of foot.

(2 discussions)

Hi.
I have a painful bump on the bottom of my foot near the heel. It’s faintly bluish in color and painful. I did step on something a few days ago..the border between my kitchen floor and living room rug has a metal edge that hurts if you step on it.
I thought maybe I had a spinter or something, but there’s no sign of any open wound to the area nor any infection. It’s not red and my foot is not swollen. It looks like a faint bruise only it’s raised. Could this be a bruise of some sort? Thanks for your help.SueNY

So what are the causes of such a bump. We have someone here the the same condition only directly on the bottom center of foot, almost like a swollen gland or lymph node. So forget the I would have to see and what are some possible causes or conditions? if it gets much worse in the next few days, of course we will have to emergency room it, but a supposed diognosis is the first step to understanding the problem,

Without examining your foot, it is difficult to determine what this is. From your description, certainly a bruise is one possibility. If you rest the area and use ice and compression over the weekend and it is not improving, you should see a podiatrist.
