if your getting numbness and you are struggling to move you toes then you must have some sort of nerve trapment/damage. i had a similar problem several months ago and i had a lack of control over my left foot as i could hardly feel it. It could be that you have trapped/damaged your siatic nerve which originates in you back but goes down the outside egde of your leg.
Im not an expert on this subject but theres a few things which i did which made me better
1. do a sitting down hamstring stretch and bring your chin down to your chest, you should feel a tightness in your lower back and behind your knee – this is the nerve being stretched.
2. When i had my nerve problem, if i applied pressure with my finger on the boney part of the outside of my knee a got impulses running down my leg to my toes – play around with that part if you can find it because its helping to inovate the nerve which may be damaged.
try out those ideas as they solved my problem of numbness in my toes. Do the stretches as much as possible – the more the better!
