Plantar Fasciits Casting

I have had pf for about 8 months now…. Last time I went to the doctor he suggested after a month if no relief that I be placed in a cast. I didn’t have insurance when I was seeing that doctor. Now that I have insurance and my symptoms have not improved. I am ready for the cast but have to start from scratch with a new doctor that is on my insurance list. I have never responded to cortisone shots in the past and would like to try a cast as a last resort before surgery. If I tell my new doctor on the first visit to continue with a cast will he comply saving me from endless visits starting over? If not what can I do?

Doctors have different ways of approaching this problem. Taping, ice, anti-inflammatory medications both over the counter and prescription, rest, stretching, pre-fabricated arch supports, custom made arch supports, night splints, steroid injections are some conservative treatments. Surgical treatments are many as well.Just because one doctor recommended a cast, does not mean it will or will not work. You should have a detailed discussion with your doctor and have a clear understanding of why a certain treatment is being done.
