plantar fascitis

what type of shoes do I need to get for my foot problem?? ordered some birkenstock, and those did not work. maybe I got the wrong type. also I have a terrible burning pain in my ankles, heel and half way up the back of my leg. dr’s have told me that I could have surgery, but that it is very painful. this is going to be the last resort. any SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!
