Plantars Faciiatis

After doing much research on the web, I am positive that have done something bad to my plantars faciiatis. I know that you should wear shoes w/ good arch supports, but the arch supports apply pressure directly on the painful spot and it feels like a nail is going thru my heel. I have had this HORRID pain now going on 6 weeks and it is showing no sign of improvement. I try to stay off of it, but because of work, it’s impossible to rest it all the time. How long will this pain continue…or is it going to be something chronic!?

I have been haveing some pains on and of just below my ankles. It feels like a sprained ankle but it did not sprain it. it normally happens after a long rally or when I jump up for an overhead. The pain lasts about 5-7 mins then goes away after I walk it off. Its been like this for the past few months and I have not really paid attention to it until a friend of mine told me it might be plantar faciatis. If it is will wearing the ASO ankle braces help alleviate some of my discomfort? Should I get some gel pads to put into my shoes to help absorb the pain? What is a long term treatment other than rest and losing weight? ThanksPJ
