Post Bunionectomy Infection in foot- severe

(4 discussions)

I had a bunionectomy about 5 wks ago and my 2 pins came out this week, following w/ a pretty bad infection. my foot is really bad swollen and extremely red at the site of the pin that was in the side of my foot (next to big toe). it is not able to drain really due to the hole being closed up. I was not able to make it in to see my dr. today but he called me in some clyndamyacin last night. my big toe and on down into my foot is quite red and blue, and swollen even more so than it had been following surgery, so here is my question-Should I go to the emergancty room and have them take a look at it? Am I risking losing my foot or a more seriouse infection, if I waite till tuesday of next week to get it seen about?

By all means, if you have not had anyone see your foot, please do so as soon as possible.
