Your story sounds like my story. Anything you can do to strengthen but not overwork your muscles will help your stability. Swimming is great. I ended up with a restricted knee replacement. It solves the instability problem but regaining muscle strength after surgery is difficult. Good luck. Try to find a great orthopedic surgeon, preferably one who has worked with polio patients before.
