Post tibal tendonitis=surgery??

(2 discussions)

Dr. Abrams- I have been treated the last few weeks for post tibal tendonitis.
The tendons on both sides of my foot and the one on top are swollen and very painful.
My podiotrist has wrapped my arch and I’m wearing a surgical shoe.
I had to pick up a medical form from her office today to take to my employer(shes out of town for a week) She noted on the form that if this didn’t heal that surgery and casting would be the next treatment.
Since she’s not in town would you know what type of surgery is done for this?
I can hardly bend my toes upward because of the pain.
Thanks for your help,Kathy

I can not give you a specific answer as I do not have all the information. If the tendon is torn, then a surgical repair would be indicated. There are different procedures, depending on the extent of damage. Immobilization is usually tried first to allow everything to rest.

It`s been three months since my surgery, and I still have pain. Is this normal?
