pulled back and leg ligiments

I work in a warehouse pulling and stacking pet food – as much as 60lbs per unit at 20,000lbs total a day – sometimes bending over and sometimes reaching above my head to get the product.
I do this at a very fast pace – all in about 7 or 8 hrs.
I also have to wrap the stacked pallet myself – having to stretch the back and hamstring, walking around the pallet with a 20lb roll of wrap. Needless to say, my back and hamstrings are VERY sore to the point that my hamstrings will spasm and tightin up uncontrollably for as much as 5min straight. Am I causing permanent damage and what can I do short of quitting my job? I do all this work on hard concrete.mark lantis

: mark lantisOf course: this type of consistantly physically demanding work can lead to all kinds of chronic problems, especially of thelower back. I think you should see an Orhtopedist for an evaluation and recommendations. If you can prove that you have been injured while on the job, you would, of course, be entitled to receive “Workman’s Compensation”. If you have no real injuries yet, the Orthopedist can either show you how to properly do the lifting tasks required, or send you to a PT for such instructions. If the doctor determines that the tasks that you are being required to do at work, he can write a letter stating so to your employer. That way, if you get hurt in the future (by being forced to do something that was stated as being dangerous), the company will be liable for any injuries. Let up know what happens. Make you you properly document each and every injury with your employer and a personal physician.
