Quad injury??

(2 discussions)

Last week I injured my quad on the outside part of the leg. During a mountain bike race, I went down hard and my outer left quad absorbed most of my body weight as it hit a big rock. I had problems walking, and a week later still limping, pretty bad bruising, and a ‘dent’ with a slight bulge below it in my quad. Still sore to the touch. Did the R.I.C.E. thing as well. Do I need to get medical attention to this? I figured it was just a bad bruise, but read up online about contusion tears so it got my thinking it might me worse than I thought.

I have a dent in my right Quad. 3 months I strained my Quad playing football so I thoguht. Went to the doctor and found out I have a torn Quad muscle. He said since the muscle had contracted it would do mor damge to repair it. So now instead 4 quad muscles I only have 3. No pain and I can still play ball and lift weights but my right leg will always be weaker and give out faster.

I am a 47 year old male. I am in very good shape and very active. About 10 days ago, I was snow boarding and hit a tree. My left Quad took all the force. It hurt very badly at impact. I was able to continue boarding for the rest of the day. The leg bruised badly on the outside of the Quad, in the area of impact, mid way up the thigh. Currently, I can function for the most part normally. It does hurt when I stand from sitting,a bit, but lessening. During the night, while sleeping, it wakes me when I roll over(pain). I don’t see any indent in the Quad. My concern is I have a tear or partial tear. If this is the case, what is the best treatment. Can imobilization repair a partial tear?
