: Adrianne JoubertStarting salary these days is usually in the mid to high 30’s. The field is opening up lately, after the PPS onslaught a few of years ago, but will never be as good as it was pre-PPS. Pension plan…what’s that??? Does anyone still get pension plans? That’s what 401K’s are for. You save your own money for retirement. This money is taken out of your paycheck and is is not taxed. I have never had to move away from home and I’ve been a P.T. for 8 years. There are lots of PRN jobs around, especially at nursing homes. PRN means on an “as needed basis” and they don’t get vacations or any other benefits that staff employess would get. The least amount of education is four years, but I’ve heard that most programs are masters degrees and are anywhere from 5 to 6 years. The P.T. field will always be there…folks are getting older and people are always getting hurt. I think a lot of clinics are hiring other personal, such as athletic trainers and PTA’s, to cut down on costs. It’s still a great field to be in. The requirements have always been the same…they’ve always been somewhat on the tough side, but they want the best. Good luck
