The message via phone was that the MRI showed a torn posterior menisus of the kneew (at this time I do not know if it is medial or not) and if there were pain, swelling, or popping then an orthopedic appointment would be scheduled.Since I only have minimal pain with popping when I flex my knee I wonder if that means it will heal on its own. I limp and am unable to flex my knee more than 45 degrees without it becoming stif and painful (before, flexion was such that my ankle touched by gluteus maximus. A trip to Chicago is happening now and need to know.

I was diagnosed with a torn Madial Miniscus today7/14/2016 after I had an MRI done on 7/10/2016.It is quiet painful. Is surgery the most effective form of treatment?

Can someone please help me? I have a partial tear miniscus in my right knee. The doctor said that it would heal on its own. Its been about 7 weeks now and it hasn’t heeled. Doctor said since it’s been over 4-6 weeks maybe I should consider surgery. Can someone please reply to point me in a positive direction…

I was writing to let you know that my mother has the same knee problem as you and it has been about 4 weeks now. The doctor said that surgery is the only resolution and that it will not heel on its own. Also, they said to have done ASAP to avoid any further damage. This may not be the poitive direction you were looking for but it looks like surgery is the only way to heel your knee. Good luck.

I’ve been diagnosed with an irregular tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus w/o a definitive displaced fragment. There is some grade II signal through the lateral meniscus, but no intraarticular tear. This also – marked chondromalacia identified of the patella, medial and lateral facet and associated area of the articulating surface of the lateral femoral condyle. Medial and lateral retinacula are intact. Extensor mechanism is intact. ……small effusion ????anyone been there ?!
