Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy(RSD)

(2 discussions)

Dear Doctor, I am a 28-year old female . I suffered a Jones fracure late November 02 and the injury precipitated to RSD. My foot is still not completely back to normal. Could you please tell me how long it normally takes for RSD to be cured. Also, are there any gynaecological implications to RSD?Many Thanks!

I am sorry that this unfortunate thing has happened to you. RSD is a very complex situation and there are not any easy or short answers to your question of how long it normally takes to be cured. I know of some patients who have redisual problems indefinitely. Your answers need to come from a pain management specialist, usually a neurologist or specially trained anesthesiologist. Good luck

Hi! I have a friend who right now is suffering from RSD. But, I’m afraid that her case is really huge. I mean, she already has it in all her body, she can’t move either her arms and legas, and her lungs sometimes stop working. She’s had 3 blocks (i’m not sure how you call them)and has taken lots and lots of medication, but she keeps getting worse. I just wanted to know… is it possible that it will never be cured???
