Re:Groin injury

I first started to feel the pain in my groin at the start of the football season, during pre-season training. Whenever I would try to take off to run, I found I had no strength and could not generate any speed at all. I also found that I could only kick the ball about 15-20 metres, which I found extremely painful in my groin area. The pain worsened the more I used it. I have since rested it for a period of 10 weeks and returned to football only to find that it had not healed at all and feels just as damaged. The pain is right under my testicles and runs right down to my anus. It also stretches up both sides of my thigh and towards my pubic bone. I have been told by a specialist to rest it again and to have a physio work on it. This is quite frustrating as I have rested it in the past and it has not healed. Is there and operation I could have that would fix my groin for good, as I have heard of other people who have had similar problems and surgery has fixed their problem?Thank you for your time.
