rehab of 5th metacarpal salter 2 fracture

My very athletic 11 year old son sustained a salter 2 fracture of his proximal 5 metacarpal phalanx of his right hand (non dominant hand). It was promptly X-rayed, diagnosed, splinted then casted for 2 weeks, Then cast removed and buddy taped to the adjacent 4th finger. H e has been doing ROM exercises since cast removal (10 days). No swelling evident, no pain at site. Good ROM. Little League playoffs start soon… when could he safely resume playing baseball (hand in glove while fielding as it is non dominant hand) fielding and batting?

Sorry I mispoke, it is not the metacarpal but the 5th proximal phalanx (pinkie finger) that was the fractured. Thanks!
