Rib head “out”

I went to a Chiropractor on 12/4/06. He did some diagnosistics and came back with a “rib head out” It is located on the right side of my body, near my right scapula. I have been back for 4 more sessions and it seams to be getting a little better, but the only way I can get relief is when he “pops/adjusts” it back in. I am a male and have read about this with pregnant women. What is the cause of this? Is it hereditary(my mom has similar pain in same area? What can I expect from treatment? Is there a permanate fix?

It sounds as if you may have a postural disposition to pulling a rib head out. Once the postural or structural problem which predisposes you to pulling the rib head is resolved through adjustments, modalities, or postural exercises then you should not keep pulling the rib head out. Both men and women can pull rib heads, I pulled one stretching once so it is quite easy to do. The rib head pulling out is not a heritable problem. But the structure of your body is and that is likely where the problem was passed down.
