ribs popping out and yoga

Hello, I wanted to touch base on some ways to help a student of mine who used to be a gymnast. Her ribs pop out of place and she has to be adjusted or the ribs have to be forced back into place. Are there some exercises to assist this problem and what would be the cause> From my perspective her core abdominals do not support her enough and she tends to sway in the lower back allowing the ribs to pertrude. Your help is appreciated-

hi, I wanted to post a link to the one sent in by kim on sept 12 (re her friends ribs popping out). I am so relieved to hear that someone else is suffering from the same problem as me (although sorry for them too!). I have been suffering from my ribs popping out for over a year (it wasn’t diagnosed correctly until about 5 months ago). After seeing (and spending plenty of money on) osteopaths, homeopaths and physiotherapists I started seeing a chiropracter who ‘crunched’ me back into place. only trouble was that the crunching caused considerable pain afterwards and my ribs popped out again incredibly easily (i had to see him three times in one week). i’m now seeing a different chiropractor who is working more on massaging/manipulating the ribs back into place, but again they’re still popping out so easily (eg went to see her yesterday and they’d popped out by the same evening). this latest chiro has given me exercises to do – i’m doing low level pilates and she’s also given me a limited number of yoga exercises to do. sometimes they help, sometimes they exaggerate the problem, and i’ve recently started taking flaxseed oil as apparently this helps with joints, etc. i’m desparate for this to be over – I haven’t slept properly since it all started (the ribs are like an alarm clock – waking me up at virtually spot-on 5am every morning) and have tension in my neck and shoulder as a result so am never comfortable. if anyone would like to comment/give advice i’m keen to hear anything you’ve got to offer. what I really want to know is how can I stop the ribs from continuously (easily) popping out? is it really a slow, slow case of core stability exercises to build up strength in my back? should I be doing yoga/pilates? what else can I do?
