rib/sternum discomfort

(3 discussions)

Hello, almost 3 years ago I started to notice that one of my ribs on my right side (maybe # 2 or #3)close to the sternum was protruding. Now it’s even more noticeable, the rest of my ribs on the right side and also my left are all following in the same way. They all feel ‘misaligned’. I’ve had xrays & a Ct scan & blood work all neg. My grandmother had pagets disease & my test for that came back neg. I used to get chiropractic adj & that made me feel a little better, but I went to an orthopedist who told me not to go anymore, he said my lower spine has early signs of degenerative disks & chiropractics would make it worse. Daily I feel an ache or a sharp pain where the ribs meet the sternum. Sometimes I feel a ‘pop’ with certain movements. I had a heel spur recently & took advil continuously for a month. It helped the heel spur but not the rib pain. I would appreciate any wisdom you would share.

I am 44 years old and I have a continuous pain under my left breast and rib area into the sternum. I have seen my PCP numerous times. I recently had a CT scan. It was negative. Now my doctor wants me to see Ortho doc. Most that I have tried to make an appointment with, will not treat the chest pain/ rib pain. It is a constant burning tender to the touch. I can not sit with pressure in that area without getting up to have some relief. I have stopped wearing underwire bra’s to the discomfort. I can’t seem to find any answers. This has lasted for 4 months. What else should I look for?

Dear Sir/Ma, I have a current discomfort in my sternum. It occurred as a result of excessive stretching exercises(jumping and arching at the same time). I feel it has swollen up a bit. I experience pains when I turn back to see anything. I would love to eliminate this pains if possible. Your advice is sincerely needed, as it is affecting my walking posture. I try to massage it with pain relievers. I also take analgesic. But the pain still persists. Thank you for your anticipated response.
