Right knee problem

(2 discussions)

I have just learned I have two tears in my right knee manicus. The doctor says I need surgery to repair them. I am a diabetic and am concerned about the recovery time. How will surgery effect my sugar levels?

Lot’s of patients have surgery that are diabetic. I am a wound specialist also and see lot’s of diabetics with uncontrolled sugars with wounds that do not heal. It’s mainly because of the erratic levels of their sugars. Keep you sugars in really good “check” and you should not have any trouble healing. Have you had an A1C lately? It determines your sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. You want it to be less than 7%. Eat a healthy diet and keep your diabetes under STRICT control. Good luck!
