rigid orthotics and fibromyalgia

Hi.
.. I made the mistake of wearing new hard/rigid orthotics with my illness of fibromyalgia.
After 7 days (broke in slowly) both heels (especially my right) began to feel very tender, nervy, and achey. I removed them, returned them to my podiatrist in exchange for a soft leather pair. Does anyone have experience with hard orthotics causing these type of problems with their heels?
Thank you for your response.

I have bad pain in the heels and I went to a Podiatrist and she said to rest them on a bag of ice for at least 10 minutes, and then massage them with Arnica Ointment. To look at, they appear to be full of puss. The ice certainly works, but you can’t spend your life on an ice block. Where do I go from here?
