Rotator Cuff Preventave Conditioning

I just landed my first high school coaching job, and my main concern is the health of my pitchers.
I would like to know if there are any excersises that isolate the muscles surrounding the rotator cuff (particularly the suspraspinatus, and accompanying muscles that take most of the punishment after every pitch), or does strength make the muscle rigid?
I need both strength, and flexability in that area.Detroit Corktown/Briggs Little League

    several years ago I injured my shoulder while stretching a fitted sheet onto a bed! severe pain for weeks. healed and motion came back as I swim often. three days ago I felt a tightening and a bit of a pull while swimming. now the awful pain is back. what should I do? imbolized the area or move it gently. the pain is severe. thank you for any help. is surgery needed. several friends are golfers and they have had to have some shoulder surgery, I would like to avoid this. any help is appreciated. margret maker
