Ruptured Gastroc / Achilles

On March 15th, I felt like I was kicked in the calf – It was loud enough to hear a pop. As I was unable to walk, I immediately went to my physician who advised I strained my muscle. I was prescribed anti inflammatory-anti spasm and pain meds. Two days later – no results – leg calf swelled to twice its size – bruising appeared – leg very cold due to poor circulation – went back to physician. He sent me for an ultrasound as I had phlebitis in this leg in the past. Sonogram showed no clotting – my physician advised me to stop taking meds previously prescribed and put me on a stronger pain med, keep leg elevated, no activity.
Five days later, still in excrutiating pain, leg know yellow, I contacted an orthopedic surgeon, who has set my leg in a soft cast, scheduled an MRI, which I will be going for today (march 25), 10 days after initial incident. I am not scheduled to see the surgeon again until March 30, for results on how to proceed.
I feel that too much time is passing with no answers. I am tempted to go to a hospital, and not leave until something is done. THe pain is unbearable – meds give no relief. Unable to stand on crutches in upright position as leg begins to throb terribly. I find myself crawling to get around. Are these symptoms normal?
