Sacroiliac Pain and Inflammation

(3 discussions)

Hi, I’m awaiting an appointment with a sports doc for an ongoing problem. It started as right hip pain with pins & needles down the right leg over a year ago and has become ongoing pain in the right SI joint (lower back pain) and some referred groin/lower right abdominal pain. I had a cortisone shot for trochanter bursitis on that side in January with mixed results. I teach step, waterfit, and do alot of weight training. All I know right now is that squats really irritate it and other than that it acts up now & then and I don’t know why. Any clothing remotely snug in that area irritiates – today the pins & needles are back and it is quite sore.

In the past months I’ve had xrays and a bone scan and all is clear. There seems to be a bit of a bulge over my right SI joint, which I’m assuming is inflammation. My PT said that right SI was hypermobile but wasn’t very helpful (expereinced?).

Anyone with advice or experience to share – I’d greatly appreciate it !

Yea,been there! I also was diagnosed with a hypermobile SI – complete with lumpy bulgy bit – I was advised (post treatment)to keep it moving and do a lot of gentle stretching – it seems to have done the trick!

Yikes – sorry to hear that Mrs. E, that’s horrible. I have read about prolotherapy on the net but no one here does it so I haven’t even considered it – now I definitely won’t. I was worried about getting an epidural with my first child, prolotherapy sounds like a bigger gamble ! I hope you can find some way to ease your symptoms.

Wish I had some great advice for you. I also am injured from a
prolotherapy injection from 2 years and 4 months ago and can
hardly walk. It is getting worse and the pain is so bad I can not even
think sometimes. I wish I could find some relief. I wish you the best.
But for the record …do not get any Prolotherapy…is is dangerous and
the doctors are not well trained. They are like some chiropractors who
want all the areas they can get to treat…keep you coming back to
put money in their pockets with no mercy. Stay away from them.
