Sciatic Problem

(2 discussions)

My father, 75 years old, is having severe sciatic pain that is now going into his leg.
He is going to therapy and is seeing his doctor, but it continues to get worse each day.
He is not able to sleep.
My question is, he is sleeping in a bed that is over 30 years old, could this be playing a part in this problem? and should he get a new mattress?
If so, is there one that you would suggest?

Replacing you old mattress is always a good idea. Over itme, you mattress will develop “sunken areas” where your shoulders, back and bum have put presssure on over the years. A person can flip and turn their mattress over, but one can only do this so many times before a new mattress is really needed.the American Chiropractic Association recommends that a “medium-firm mattress” is best to support the spine.

My mother has been having pain in her leg and thigh for about three weeks now and the doctor said it could be sciatic pain. She put her on celebrex to try for one month. Is this what you think it could be?
