Screw removal from acl repair- inform me please!!!

i had acl repair in Jan. Things were going great. Screw started backing out and surgeon said although only 10 % need to have it removed, I was certainly a candidate and it was no big deal. I had complete use of my knee only discomfort when I was on it (I am a decorative painter and am on my knees alot) and the screw was rubbing from its sticking out. I have more pain now in all areas of activity and am really bummed and wish I had just lived with the thing sticking out. the surgeon acts as if it is nothing to be concerned about. I don’t know how long the bone will take to fill in at the site of the hole. which is where the pain is. Can someone give me any insite to this. I have been unable to find answers anywhere.
