Sesamoid Injury

I have a 17 yr old daughter who has not been able to return to play after injuring her sesamoid over a year ago. She has rested, tried custom orthotics and been casted for 6 weeks. It would appear she will not be able to run again…very unsettling for a 17 yr old. Has anyone had any success in getting back after this lengthy time from this type of injury without surgery? She is very scared of having her foot operated on because several doctors told her this might not work and cause more problems. Thank you in advance for any and all comments/advice.

: Thank you in advance for any and all comments/advice. I have broken my sesamoid bone in my left foot. I broke it jan 2013. I went to a podiatrist and he just told me not to run and gave me orthotics to wear. I waited about 6 months before I tried to run again…but had no success. I eventually went to a orthopedic about 5 months ago and they put me in a “moon boot” and I had to order a bone stimulator. I have gone back 2 times to him for check ups and my bone is healing back (after appearing before to start dissappearing). I was told that I wasn’t able to run either. I have to wait now till maybe sept. before I can run for college. I would suggest going to an orthopedic and ask about a bone stimulator for her foot. Email me if you have any ?s.
