Severed Tendon
(3 discussions)
Last week, I cut my foot and severed the tendon on the top of my big toe.
The emergency room doctor stiched it back together, but I fell on it the next day and I think I may have pulled the stitch out (I have a cast on so it’s hard to tell, but I can’t move my toe up, just like when I cut it).
Is it too late to have it resewn?
Also, I have been referred to both a plastic surgeon and orthopedic surgeon…both of whom seem to think that the other is more qualified to help me.
What’s your opinion?
Thanks

Whoever sees you, it will likely be obvious if the tendon has retorn. A podiatrist can take care of this problem as well as an orthopedist or a plastic surgeon. Good luck

The foot does swell in a cast so it is possible that is the cause of the tingling. There is also a possibility you did injure some nerves. I am at a disadvantage since I can't see your foot.

Thanks for your help…just one more question My toes are not swollen and their color seems okay…is this just because of the cast, or is it possible that I injured some nerves, as well (My injury was a one-inch cut across the top of my big toe, but quite deep).Again, thanks for all your helpStacey
