shin splints

Hello,
I recently started up walking again and felt ready to start up a light jogging program.
I try to warm up by walking two laps then start jogging for two or three laps and then return to walking as a cool down period.
What I have experienced is pain in my shin area immediately after jogging.
The final walking laps are done in pain but I do not stop until I complete my cycle.
I thought I was in need of a new pair or jogging shoes so I purchased a pair or Oasics.
They did not help and I returned them and got some Brooks that were recommended from a guy at Road Runner Shoe store in San Diego. Again they did not help.
So now I do not know what to do. New shoes or what?
I want to continue jogging as I have enjoyed it in the past but I dread the pain.
Please reply with some advice.
Thanks! P.S I am 44 years old and have been an active person.
People tell me its my age! How depressing!
I sure hope not!!!!!!!!!!

hi! it is not your age! hahaha. I am only 15 and I get shin splints too. running (or jogging) from heel to toe is really important, other wise your achilles tendon snaps too hard and pulls the calf muscle away from the bone. if you stretch before, that helps too. you can put one foot out, and pull it up then point it, and keep doing that will stretch out the front of your shins. and also, if you get down on the groud like your going to do “mountain climbers” but keep one foot flat on the ground, that will stretch out your calfs. another one is if you lean up against a wall with the top part of the bottom of your foot at an angle to the wall pushing against it.
