Shoulder pain

Hi allAfter being active in the gym now for 3 months after a long rest, I am getting pains in my right shoulder whenever I do any upper body routines. From what I can see on the picture I found in a book its the front head of the deltoid, its feel like its on the bone itself.A friends dad says its inflammation, and that I should use a ice pack every night and that it will go away, this has not really helped after 1 week and is really buggering up my workout routine. What can I do to fix this problem. Thanks In advancePof

Ahh, the shoulder pain of the gym rat. Most folks get shoulder pain because they do lot’s of presses, bicep and shoulder cause they want their pecs to look huge. But you are neglecting those little rotator cuff muscles that want exercise too. Sounds like you have either some tendonitis or busitis. Same type of pain. You do need to rest and STOP doing upper arm exercises right now. Go to a doc and see if you can have a short course of PT to go through some rotator cuff exercises and educate you on how to lift so you don’t cause muslce imbalance. Cheers! mary
