Shoulder Subluxation?

(3 discussions)

I need some help diagnosing an injury, my doctor is no help whatsoever due to the fact he has paracemtamol prescribed before i walk in the surgery (yes, hes really that bad and i cant afford private treatment). I have had this injury for nearly two years now. It started whilst i was at the gym regularly doing some weight training for muscle gain. I was doing very heavay weights compared to my body mass and i think i went too far too fast. I get the feeling my shoulder is dislocating in certian positions and i also feel very very weak in that arm/shoulder compared to before. I feel a burning sensation and my muscles fatigue so quick around my shoulder when performing any type of excercise involving my right arm/shoulder. I have been told i am just paranoid by my doctor? I just wanted to know if anyone could help here with a diagnosis/treatment? Thanks in advance. I have photos if needed as there is a visible difference in shoulder/collar bone position.

Yeah – it sounds a lot like an AC joint injury. A colleague separated the AC joint in a football injury and it required a year’s rehab – seeing sports injury professionals and exercise rehab. It’s pretty well healed now but he cannot bench press the weight he could before it happened. If you don’t get it diagnosed and treated properly, I suspect you will develop compensatory problems later.

Sounds like u COULD have an A-C (acromioclavicular) Shoulder Separation rather than a subluxation (when the ball of the shoulder joints pops out than in again). A-C separation is actually a sprain where the ligament that holds the shoulder blade (acromion) to the collarbone(clavicle) is stretched or torn. There is an obvious deformity where the outer end of the collar bone will stick up and seems unstable. Hard to say without seeing. mark
