Siatica

(9 discussions)

I was recently dx with siatica.
I am constantly on my feet and any minute I get I try to put my feet up.
My family Dr. was giving pills after pills. About every other month I have a flare up. Do you think seeing a chiropractor would help with the maintence of the pain/problem. Do you think exercise or weight loss would help aleive the pain? Please HelpTricia

I just finished my 2nd marathon and also am studying karate. When I started my longer distance runs I developed siatica in my left leg. It seems to subside after 8-10 miles but burns those first 1-7 and when I do kicks involving internal and external hip rotation.Any suggestions?

My siatica started about 3 years ago after tripping up some steps. Now I have swelling in my leg.Below the knee to the ankle. Didn’t have it before. I have been going to chiropractor and massage sense then. Thanks to them the pain is almost gone. At times there is a flare up. No one seems to worry about the swelling except me. Yes, I am over weight. Working towards loosing.Any help would be appreciated. Pat

My Mother is 62. She has had her second attack of Siatica within the last 2 months. She has numbness in both legs and severe shooting pains. She has suffered loss of reflexes previously and has not significantly improved for the past two weeks. She cancer of the womb at the age of 42. Has had HRT Implants that have resulted in excess Eostregen. Her GP has made a clinical diagnosis of siatica. Should there be further investigation. What symptons should cause concern. She should be travelling to Brazil in the next two weeks?

I have it now and sometimes I am ok and the next minute I can’t walk. I am going to a chiropractor he claims it is going to take time, I fell and dislocated my right shoulder last January and had some Darvoset left over that is the only thing that gets me through this. Advil just dose nothing. I am going to see my medical dr and see what he says, I have had it 10days now and I can’t even drive now because it is my right leg. Thank God my husband drives me around. I can’t beleive the pain…….

My doctor has suggeted I might have sciatica -I am experiencing deep pain in a hip joint that runs down my legs. I had x-rays which were normal. Does it shoul like a catscan is the next step? I am taking anti-inflanmmatory medicine but the pain is really not getting any better. Thank youl
