SLOW HEALING FOOT

On Sept 20,2014 due to a motorcyle accident I incurred minimally displaced second, third, and fourth metatarsal fractures. Decompressive fasiotomy was done to avoid compartment syndrome. After 60 days I had an x-ray which shows the bones have healed, however I still have a significant amount of swelling on the bottom of my foot and cannot put any pressure on it. I am told this swelling or hard lump on the bottom of my foot is blood which hasn’t been absorbed by my body yet. How long can this take? Also my Doctor says I should get a second opinion…should I be worried about something? Thank-you for your time and consideration.

Realistically, I suspect this type of injury and surgery would take longer than this amount of time. It may yet take several more months. You should discuss this further with your doctor. An MRI might be useful to get more information. Physical therapy might also be helpful.
