small lumps around heel

I guess these are two problems.
I have had small lumps all around my back of my foot, just over the heel, for at least a year.
They have not bothered me until recently.
If I press the area, they hurt.
There are many of them, they completely cover the area. Any idea what this could be?
Unrelated, within the past week the back of my ankle, also just above the heel, is excruciating to the touch.
I did have an accident four weeks ago. That leg fell into a hole and my foot twisted however, I was ok and had no pain or sensitivity until now.

Without seeing your foot I can not say for certain. The “lumps” are called piezogenic papules. This is a herniation of the fat pad in the heel. The pain you describe in the back of the heel may be an injury to the heel bone or the achilles tendon. An x-ray and possibly sonogram or MRI may be necessary. I recommend you see a podiatrist for further evaluation.
