Soccer ankles

Playing soccer for years has yielded many strains and sprains. My ankles are generally weaker now and roll easily, but rarely hurt. Both ankles always look more swollen than average. Is it possible that there is a fluid build up? Are the ligaments stretched causing the size difference? Is there anything I can do to reduce the overall swollen look of my ankles?
