sore heel after bunion surgery

(2 discussions)

Had extensive bunion surgery eight weeks ago and just recently started to walk.
Everything was fine for 3-4 days with no pain.
Since then I have developed a very painful heel and cannot walk with pressure on it at all.
Too painful.
What should I be doing.
Resting?
Walking?
A little of both?

Cindy, it sounds like you may have just put some excessive strain on the heel, especially if you have been non-weight bearing for eight weeks.Ice and a anti-inflammatory drug, such as ibuprofen (if no allergies), may help. If it continues, you should see your surgeon.
