sore scar from achilles tendon repair

(3 discussions)

Hi,
it has been a year since my surgery to repair a torn achilles tendon.all is well, there is some swelling but I just keep off my feet when it gets bad.the problem is the scar, it is still so sore that I can only wear back-less shoes, the slip on kind, and I must be careful not to let anything touch/knock or rub against it.
I need to know why the scar is still so sore and will it ever ge better? Also do you know of any orthopedic brace/device that I can wear to protect it and perhaps allow me to wear regular shoes again?
Thanks

I am sorry for your problem. Achilles rehab can take months, but with hard work and rehab, you should see light at the end of the tunnel.
Talk to your doctor about how you feel.

My husband had surgery last week from this. Is there anything that he can put on his scar so that it will not be so noticable? His scar goes all the way up his calf. When should he expect to be able to walk again?
