Soreness in the upper part of the back of my leg (hamstring)
Hi everybody im a runner in highschool and im 17 years old. I run almost everyday and average about 7 miles per day and and about 50 per week. Tuesday after a hard workout which consisted of 5 x 1200m at 5:20 mile pace i noticed pain in the high part of my back right thigh as I began to do my cool down run. The pain is just below my right buttock muscle and isn’t real bad. When i run it feels like pain in the bone though its kinda weird. While running it feels like a hip pain on the side of my leg. The soreness is definently coming from the back of my hamstring though it is just very high on the hamstring muscles.
What do you guys think I should do? stretches, icing, strenght etc.?
Also i have a big race this saturday that i really really really want to race in. Do you think that is a good idea because i don’t want to run and hurt myself more and ruin my entire season.
Thanks everybody
email me at with any advice.
p.s- i took today off and just ice the pain has improved very slightly if any
