Spine Fracture

(2 discussions)

I had an accident today where I slid down a flight of stairs. At the Hospital they said I had a fracture of the T11 thoracic spine and that it should heal on its own. Do such injuries typically result in recovery without any significant treatment? I am a 40 year old male and making matters worse, I weigh about 260 pounds (about 6 foot tall)…

: I had an motor vehicle accident on 01/05/06 I went to the Emergency Room they did x-rays said the found no problems. I continued to have sever pain on my right side just below the ribs. I went to my primary care physician the following Wednesday, he sent me for a spinal series of x-rays. Today his office called to tell me that I had a compression fracture of the T-1 thoracac spine. They said they were going to refer me to an orthopedic doctor but it may take as long as 7 days before I can see one. Do I need to see the Orthorpedic Doctor sooner. They did not seem to worried about the kind of work that I do, I some times have to lift fifty pounds or more over my head. Do I need to restric my lifting?
