Sprained ankle

(2 discussions)

I’ve sprained my left Ankle a month ago, while using a new pair of trainers. I was not used to trainers, I’ve worn boots my whole life. I jump down stairs a lot in boots, never had a problem doing it for 8 years or so.
I was jumping down some stairs in trainers, my feet caught in mid air due to the stickyness of the trainers, I landed very very badly and sprained my left ankle. The next day I was in agony. I had to wait 10 days for the doctor appointment, and he just said that it would get better eventually. He didn’t even tell me to take it easy on my ankle, which shows he wasn’t taking my case seriously.
Its a lot better now, I can walk, run and jump. But it is weakened, I can feel it is weak.
What should I do? I like excersize. I really want some super dooper kind of ankle support or special sleeved trainer that is good for jumping sports. Running isn’t so important to me as jumping. Jumping over obstacles, jumping down from heights, etc.
I don’t need something light, heavy is fine, just the best I can get that doesn’t hinder my jumping noticably.Any idea for ankle excersizes?
Is there anything I can do to speed up the healing?

I would go see another doctor. this time make sure you see a foot/ankle orthopedist or a podiatrist. they will treat your injury more seriously. if it is just a light sprain then there is a good chance all you need is some physical therapy. if its more serious they will be able to treat it accordingly. good luck!-justin

      Thanks Justin.
I really want some professional advice on ankle supports, because sport is important to me.
