Stabbing pain in my hamstring

About 9 weeks ago i pulled my hamstring playing footie(bad hangover, no warm up, first game of the season- asking for it I know!). I’m pretty certain it was a minor ‘grade one’ strain as all the symptoms fitted into the category. Anyway, I played again three weeks later, and lo and behold I did the same thing. Once again, it seemed pretty minor – only felt it after the game, didn’t affect my walking etc, no bruising/swelling. Except, ever since then I’ve been getting a momentary stabbing pain in my hamstring if i try and jog, occassionally when i go up stairs, and even when i’m in bed. Its now been six 1/2 weeks since i did it, and i’m still getting this pain. Does anyone have any idea what this is, whats causing it and how to get rid of it. I’ve started this wierd vibrating massage device my Dad has for his back (well he says its for his back!), but its too early to tell if thats working. Any ideas

Ice your hamstring several times a day. You should keep the ice on until it is completely numb, about 15 minutes, that should give some temp relief. While it’s numb do a little bit of movement, nothing fast, and don’t try anything out of the ordinary, lye on back bring knee towards chest, does not have to be touching chest, and slowly start to straighten leg, as if you wanted to point toes towards the cielling. You should probably stretch before numbing so you get an idea of how far you can straighten leg. You want to go slow and easy so that you feel resistance but no pain.
