Sterno clavicular subfluxation / dislocation
(3 discussions)
Hi,
I have been temporarily (only local GP not orthopeadic surgeon) diagnosed with sterno clavicular subfluxation. From what I can ascertain this just means out of joint. What medical treatment can I seek to keep my collarbones in place? Has anyone suffered this themselves or heard of it?

Thanks guys, some useful info there. I will see a surgeon soon to get a full diagnoses with x-rays. The thing is that when my clavicles pop out when I move it does not hurt so much as feels uncomfortable and then it just sorts of pops/clicks back in by itself after a minute or so. I don’t know much about this area of the body. From pictures I have seen, it seems that there is no sterno-clavicular joint area so much as just the bones held back by tendons so I think my tendons are just too lax to hold in the bones? My theory anyway…. but I’m totally in the dark with all this.
Thanks again

Hi,
This is a difficult injury to treat. More info here:

The feedback I get from surgeons is the operation is not usually sucessful. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had different experiences.
