Stress fractures–again!!

I am a vaulter at the college level, and just had a bone scan come back positive. I had stress fractures a year and a half ago in my shin, and took time off for them to heal. Now i have them agian in the same spot, this time worse than before. I think i have to take the outdoor track season off, but i was wondering if anyone knew what to do to prevent it from happening again. I have had orthotics made, and make sure i have 2-3 rest days per week. Over christmas break i took 4 weeks off and returned to running once i could walk without pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Hi, go see a massage therapist, make sure they do more then relaxation massage. Muscles will continue to give you pain and dysfunction. So have a massage therapist explore the area, so that you can get rid of unnecessary tightness, and other contributing factors to pain and dysfunction, namely trigger points, and adhesions.
I recommend my new fav book, Pain Erasure, by Bonnie Prudden. She’s only been working with the body for around fifty years, so I think she’s learned a thing or two.
