stubbed toenail

I stubbed my toenail against my daughters bed and my nail became unattached. It bled and I have been trying to keep it clean, but I finally pulled it off. I wanted if my toenail will grow back ok and when. Also how should I take care of it so that it doesn’t get infected… Please help. It looks so weird to me right now thanks

Normally, the toenail can take approximately 1 year to grow from the root to the end of the toe. When there is an injury though the body speeds things up. As far as telling you it will be normal, I can’t. Only time will tell. If the root of the nail was damaged, then it will grow back differently. If not then in a afew weeks you will see the beginning of the nail growing. Keep it covered and protected until it is no longer sensitive and appears healed up.If you are still concerned, I recommend you see a podiatrist for further information.
